‘Dange karwayenge kya aap?’ – Fans react as Shoaib Akhtar believes Rohit Sharma would’ve hit South Africa star bowler for 20 sixes

The contest between India and South Africa was supposed to be a big battle as the top two teams squared off against each other at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday, November 5. But the Men in Blue have just shut it off well before the time by thrashing the Proteas by a massive margin of 243 runs. With this win, India have guaranteed their top position in the points table.

Meanwhile, former legendary Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar recently talked about India skipper Rohit Sharma who is in his prime form in the ongoing tournament. Rohit was all guns blazing right from the start after opting to bat first against South Africa. He played an amazing knock of 40 runs which came off just 24 balls including 6 fours and 2 sixes.

The wicket was favouring the spinners and the Proteas introduced their star leg-spinner Tabraiz Shamsi but he leaked 72 runs in his 10 overs quota. Akhtar believes that Rohit would’ve hit Shamsi for 15 or 20 sixes if he had faced him.

“Rohit Sharma has every shot, if Tabraiz Shamsi bowled such balls to Rohit Sharma, Rohit would have hit him with at least 15 to 20 sixes. India’s score would have been 430+ if he played more overs.” Akhtar was quoted as saying by Inside Sport.

Rohit could have scored five centuries in the ongoing World Cup: Shoaib Akhtar

Akhtar expressed his disappointment that Rohit didn’t achieve five centuries in the World Cup, considering his vital role as captain and foundation for the team. Nonetheless, he is still hoping for a remarkable century in the future from Rohit.

“I want to emphasize that he could have scored five centuries in the ongoing World Cup, and it’s a bit disappointing that he didn’t. I understand that he’s the captain, and his aggressive style of play lays the foundation for Virat Kohli and the lower-order batsmen to perform well. I genuinely hope he achieves a substantial century soon.” he added.
