‘Bhai sab kaptaan aise he bolte hein’ – Fans react as Rinku Singh praises Jasprit Bumrah’s captaincy on Ireland tour
India middle-order batter Rinku Singh has praised Jasprit Bumrah‘s captaincy. The former made his international debut under Bumrah’s captaincy in India’s tour to Ireland. Singh had missed out on the selection for the tour of the Caribbean Islands where India lost the T20I series while winning the Test and ODI series. On the other hand, Bumrah was making his comeback after 10-11 months due to a back injury.
As Hardik Pandya was rested for the T20I series in the European nation, Bumrah was asked to lead. Under the latter, the Men In Blue won the series by 2-0 compared to 2-3 loss against the West Indies. Meanwhile, Singh will play for India in Asian Games 2023 while Bumrah has been named in Asia Cup 2023 squad. Ahead of the Asia Cup 2023, Singh has praised Bumrah’s captaincy
“Jasprit Bumrah is a very supportive captain. He told me to relax and play freely when I was nervous,” Rinku Singh told News24 Sports.
As a cricketer you always want responsibility: Jasprit Bumrah
During the series against Ireland, the Asian side won the first game by two runs via DLS. After all, the rain ended the game when the visitors were ahead by the Duckworth Lewis Stern method. In the only full-fledged game (second T20I), India won comfortably by 30-odd runs. The last game ended as a washout as the game was abandoned due to rain.
Not a single ball was bowled in the last game. After the game, the Mumbai Indians player said that it was an honor to lead the side. He has also captained the Test team in 2022. Apparently, Rohit Sharma was tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the rescheduled fifth Test against England last July.
“An honour to lead the side, everyone was very eager and enthusiastic. Whenever you get an opportunity to lead your side, anyone would love to do that. As a cricketer, you always want responsibility,” Bumrah said about his captaincy.
