India pacer Mukesh Kumar missed the third T20I between India and Australia in Guwahati on Tuesday, November 28 due to the “biggest game” of his life. Kumar, who made his international debut in all formats this year, played the first two matches of the five-match series but did not participate in the final T20I after being granted leave by the Indian Cricket Board for marriage.

After the second T20I on Sunday, Kumar left for Gorakhpur to participate in his wedding celebrations. The Delhi Capitals (DC) star tied the knot with Divya Singh in a private and intimate wedding ceremony on Tuesday (November 28). His Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise shared a few photos on its Instagram handle. Both of them got engaged in February this year.

Kumar’s Haldi ceremony dance with Divya had earlier gone viral on social media as the 30-year-old cricketer showed off his dancing skills to the tune of a Bhojpuri song. Meanwhile, the fast bowler will join the squad for the fourth T20I in Raipur on Friday, December 1, as per a statement by the Cricket Board of India.

“Fast bowler Mukesh Kumar made a request to BCCI to be released from India’s squad ahead of the third T20I against Australia in Guwahati. Mukesh is getting married and has been granted leave for the duration of his wedding festivities. He will join the squad ahead of the 4th T20I in Raipur,” a BCCI statement read.

A picture of Kumar posing with what appears to be his relative at the airport before joining the Team India camp has gone viral on social media. Fans are showering love on the cricketer’s dedication to playing for the country as soon as the wedding ceremony is over.

In the absence of Mukesh, India gave Avesh Khan a chance in the last match. During the toss, captain Suryakumar Yadav joked that Kumar would miss the game as he had gone to play the biggest game of his life. “One change for us – Avesh replaces Mukesh, who is playing his biggest game, he’s getting married and we wish him all the best,” Suryakumar said at the toss.
