‘Isse gandi bowling nahi dekhi aajtak’ – Fans react as Australia beat India by 5 wickets in high-scoring 3rd T20I clash

India and Australia clashed against each other in the 3rd match of the 5-match T20I series at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Tuesday, November 28. The Kangaroos defeated the Men in Blue by 5 wickets in the high-scoring thriller and kept themselves alive in the series. However, India are still ahead with a 2-1 lead over the Australian team.

Talking about the match, Australia won the toss and chose to field. India faced early setbacks, but Suryakumar Yadav and Ruturaj Gaikwad stabilized, contributing 57 runs for the third wicket. Despite Suryakumar’s departure at 39 off 29, Gaikwad continued his splendid performance, forging a significant partnership with Tilak Varma.

Gaikwad accelerated, reaching his century in 52 balls, while the final over bowled by Glenn Maxwell added a remarkable 30 runs to India’s total. The innings concluded with India posting an impressive score of 222/3, with Gaikwad unbeaten at 123 off 57 balls. In their collaboration, Tilak added 39 runs in 29 balls, forming a formidable 141-run partnership in just 59 deliveries.

Brilliant batting performance by Glenn Maxwell

Chasing the target, Travis Head and Aaron Hardie, who were opening the innings for the first time in the series, provided a great start to the team. Both smashed 40 runs in just 3 overs of the 2nd innings. However, Arshdeep Singh provided the first breakthrough to the Indian team in the 5th over by dismissing Hardie on 16 runs.

Head also went back to the pavilion in the very next over on the score of 35 runs which included 8 fours. Australia’s first match centurion Josh Inglis was brilliantly cleaned bowled by Ravi Bishnoi in the 7th over. However, Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis steadied the ship as the former kept smashing from one end while Stoinis kept the one end safe.

Maxwell kept the momentum going even after the continuous dismissals of Stoinis and Tim David. Skipper Matthew Wade played an important hand too right towards the end and Maxwell got to his century in the last over while also securing the victory on the last ball. Prasidh Krishna was asked to defend 21 runs in the final over and he failed to do it.
