Pakistan and Sri Lanka are clashing against each other in the 8th match of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 on Tuesday, October 10 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first.

Meanwhile, in the midst of the clash between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, a Pakistani journalist named Farid Khan’s erroneous claim regarding Haris Rauf‘s bowling speed caused quite a stir among cricket fans and enthusiasts worldwide. Initially, the journalist, known for his passionate coverage of the sport, tweeted that Haris Rauf had delivered a mind-boggling delivery clocking an astonishing 256 KPH.

Cricket fans were left in awe, marvelling at the supposed feat, and the tweet quickly gained traction across social media platforms. However, the excitement was short-lived as the journalist swiftly issued a correction, admitting that the previous figure was a typographical error. The actual speed of Rauf’s delivery was 146 KPH, a far cry from the sensational initial claim.

Maheesh Theekshana is back in the Sri Lanka squad

This sudden turnaround didn’t go unnoticed by the vigilant cricket fan base. Social media platforms erupted with a barrage of trolling and memes aimed at the journalist, who had inadvertently fueled unrealistic expectations and momentarily deceived fans with the inflated speed figure.

Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanka came out for the toss and elected to bat first and said that there would be some assistance for the bowlers in the 2nd innings which is why he decided not to bowl first. He also announced the arrival of mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana who replaced Kasun Rajitha.

“We will bat first, there was some assistance for the bowlers in the second half in the last couple of games. We have one change – Theekshana comes in for Kasun Rajitha. It is about execution and the boys have been playing a lot of cricket and hopefully, we will do well today.” Shanaka said during the toss.
