New Zealand’s triumph over Sri Lanka in the 41st match has intensified the challenge for Pakistan in their quest for a spot in the World Cup semi-finals. The already difficult path has become nearly impossible, necessitating a significant victory against England in their final match.

Should Pakistan opt to bat first, they face the daunting task of outscoring England by a staggering 287 runs. On the other hand, if Pakistan bowls first, they must limit England to a mere 50 runs and subsequently chase the target within two overs or restrict them to 100 runs and complete the chase within three overs.

With the odds stacked against them, Pakistan captain Babar Azam has disclosed his team’s strategy for the crucial encounter against England which will take place on November 11. He said that they have a plan for net run-rate and will try to execute it. He also said that their star opener Fakhar Zaman will play a crucial role in implementing that plan.

“Anything can happen in cricket. We will try to finish the tournament on a high note. We have a plan for net run-rate and will try to execute it. We have planned how to play the first 10 overs and what to do after that. If Fakhar Zaman plays for 20-30 overs, we can achieve what’s required.

The role of Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Rizwan will also be important during the match. There is no pressure on me. I was performing and leading the side for the past three years as well. It is easy to say things while sitting on tv. People who want to advise me can contact me on my number. Right now, my focus is on the next match. I will think about the future of captaincy later.” Babar was quoted as saying Geo Super.

I bat in accordance with the situation of the match: Babar Azam

As the cricketing world awaits this pivotal clash, Pakistan find itself in a must-win scenario, with every run and wicket holding the potential to reshape their World Cup destiny. However, Babar further added while addressing his own performance and explained adapting to match situations is crucial. Acknowledging the challenges, he highlighted the diverse conditions in Indian venues, admitting he hasn’t met expectations yet.

“I bat in accordance with the situation of the match. Sometimes conditions don’t allow us to play freely. Every venue has different conditions in India. We are touring India for the first time and didn’t know much about the conditions. I admit that I have not been able to perform in line with expectations,” he said.
