‘Australia peak kar raha hai, Indian fans World Cup bhul jao’ – Fans react as Australia brush aside South Africa in second T20I

South Africa and Australia locked horns in the second T20I of the three-match series in Durban on September 1. The visitors, Australia were coming off a 111-run win in the first game. In that game, the Yellow Brigade dominated in all departments of the game. Meanwhile, in this game, the Kangaroos won the toss and inserted Proteas in.

Former skipper Temba Bavuma provided a good start as he hit 35 off 17 balls. However, his innings was cut short after being caught behind by Josh Inglis off Sean Abbott. From 36/0 in three overs, the Green Brigade was reduced to 46/4 in 5.4 overs. At this stage, skipper Aiden Markram and Tristan Stubbs put together 51 runs for the fifth wicket.

After the latter was cleaned up Jason Behrendorff, Bjorn Fortuin didn’t last long either. Skipper Markram (49) took the team to 164/8 with the support of tailenders such as Gerald Coetzee (11) and Lungi Ngidi (13*). For the T20 World Cup 2021 winners, Sean Abbott and Nathan Ellis took three wickets each while Behrendorff took two.

Australia once again dominates South Africa in all facets

As South Africa was missing Marco Jansen, Wayne Parnell, and Sisanda Magala unavailable, the team’s bowling was thin anyway. For the unversed, Jansen was given a leave to attend his sister’s wedding festivities. On the other hand, Magala had a left knee injury and Parnell’s shoulder injury re-occurred.

Not to forget, in the first game, the Green Brigade was hit for 226 runs. With the above-mentioned issues, the home side was short on runs on the board. On top of that, they got hammered by the former World Champions of ODI and T20I World Cups. In reply, despite losing Travis Head (18) early, the likes of Matthew Short (66) and stand-in skipper Mitchell Marsh (79*) ripped apart the Proteas bowling.

They put together 100 runs for the second wicket in just 7.3 overs. This led to Aussies chasing down the target in just 14.5 overs with eight wickets in hand.
