IPL: Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians Predictions

Published

on

The 59th match of this edition is between the former champions and old rivals Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.

Usually, whenever these two teams cross each other, it is deemed as a very crucial match mostly in the knockout round.

But this time, the scenario is altogether different.

Both teams have had a very ordinary tournament considering the fact that both Mumbai and Chennai have won the most IPL titles and are two of the strongest contenders of title in almost every season.

However, this year will be a year to forget as Mumbai is already out from the race of play-offs, having just 2 wins so far in the season.

While Chennai might hope somewhere that they still can go on to the next round but the odds are very much against them.

Mumbai will be playing this game for their pride while Chennai will battle out every possibility to reach the play-offs round which seems very unlikely.

Chennai Super Kings will be without their new Captain Ravindra Jadeja as he has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament due to an injury.

So, MS Dhoni will be back in the skipper colours and we might see old Chennai roaring out like they have done over the years.

Chennai have found a solid opening pair in the form of Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad.

The pair already has 2 century stands in only 4 games so far and Chennai will be eyeing the prospects of next year’s IPL with this pair.

Their bowling has been above par this season but as their campaign comes near its end, Mukesh Chowdhury seems to hit the right lengths after having an off season for the most part.

Mumbai Indians will miss Suryakumar Yadav surely after he caught an injury against Gujarat Titans.

As mentioned earlier, Mumbai will be playing for their pride as their last matches gives them opportunities to test their bench strength and formulate a future course of action.

Uncapped South African Tristan Stubbs and Basil Thampi can be tried out.

Kieron Pollard did not have a great IPL this year as his strike rate of 107.40 may indicate and considering the fact about what kind of an impactful player he is.

Who will win?

This match can be very explosive or quite dull given the state of conditons both teams are in at this point of the tournament.

Given the state, Chennai walks in this team in a dominating position despite missing Jadeja.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli’s childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma, has confirmed that Kohli, wife Anushka Sharma, and their children, Vamika and Akaay, plan to relocate to London. Sharma revealed that the cricketer envisions settling in the UK post-retirement. Virat Kohli frequently visits London, where their son Akaay was born earlier this year on February 15.

The couple owns property in London, where they are expected to reside after the move. “Yes, Virat plans to move to London with his family soon. However, he is currently focused on cricket and spending time with his family,” Sharma stated.

Kohli has balanced cricket commitments and family time this year. After the birth of his son, he returned to India following the T20 World Cup in June and played series against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Currently participating in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, his next major assignment is the Champions Trophy, followed by IPL 2025.

Despite a dip in form during recent matches against Australia, Sharma expressed confidence in Kohli’s ability to deliver. “Virat scored a brilliant century in Perth and will bounce back in the Boxing Day and Sydney Tests,” Sharma said.

Regarding Kohli’s career longevity, Sharma dismissed retirement rumors. “Virat is fit and will continue playing for at least five more years. He will likely participate in the 2027 World Cup in South Africa,” he added. Sharma emphasized Kohli’s passion for cricket and his ability to perform under pressure.

As Kohli continues to shine on the field, his potential relocation marks a new chapter for the cricket icon and his family.
