Cricket Australia has honoured two of its former cricketers. Lyn Larsen and Michael Hussey who won the World Cup were inducted to the Australian Hall of Fame. The two had won the ODI World Cup with Australia in the past. It has been a memorable day for the two who have been recognized by the Australian board for their achievements in their field at the highest level.

Lyn Larsen was appointed as the Australian captain of women’s cricket at the age of just 22 in the year 1987. The very next year, she helped Australia to win the ODI World Cup. Larsen is the 63rd inductee to the Australian Hall of Fame and represented her team in many games. Larsen led Australia in 10 Test matches and 43 ODI matches. Back then, she was known for her captaincy.

Under the leadership of Larsen, Australia won and drew 5 Tests each and never lost one. On the other hand, Australia inducted its late bloomer, Mike Hussey, into their Hall of Fame as the 62nd candidate. Popularly known as Mr Cricket, Hussey was known for his consistency in scoring runs in different positions in different formats of the game. The Southpaw was something else when in full form.

The legacy of Mike Hussey

The former Australia cricketer had a tough time making it to the Australian side which had a series of match-winners in the 2010 T20 World Cup. In the mid-2000s, Hussey became a regular in the Australian team and there was no looking back. He was a key player for Australia in all the formats of the game. In different formats, Hussey won a lot of matches with his batting efforts, which is well accounted for.

Hussey played an All-time great knock against Pakistan, as he helped his team to enter the final of the tournament. In the 2007 ODI World Cup, Hussey was a crucial part of the side that won the tournament for the third time in a row. Apart from that, Hussey is known as one of the Gentlemen of the game who played in the right spirit.

Virat Kohli’s childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma, has confirmed that Kohli, wife Anushka Sharma, and their children, Vamika and Akaay, plan to relocate to London. Sharma revealed that the cricketer envisions settling in the UK post-retirement. Virat Kohli frequently visits London, where their son Akaay was born earlier this year on February 15.

The couple owns property in London, where they are expected to reside after the move. “Yes, Virat plans to move to London with his family soon. However, he is currently focused on cricket and spending time with his family,” Sharma stated.

Kohli has balanced cricket commitments and family time this year. After the birth of his son, he returned to India following the T20 World Cup in June and played series against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Currently participating in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, his next major assignment is the Champions Trophy, followed by IPL 2025.

Despite a dip in form during recent matches against Australia, Sharma expressed confidence in Kohli’s ability to deliver. “Virat scored a brilliant century in Perth and will bounce back in the Boxing Day and Sydney Tests,” Sharma said.

Regarding Kohli’s career longevity, Sharma dismissed retirement rumors. “Virat is fit and will continue playing for at least five more years. He will likely participate in the 2027 World Cup in South Africa,” he added. Sharma emphasized Kohli’s passion for cricket and his ability to perform under pressure.

As Kohli continues to shine on the field, his potential relocation marks a new chapter for the cricket icon and his family.
