Punjab scripted history by smashing the highest-ever score in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Andhra on October 17 in Ranchi, courtesy of the explosive batting performances by Abhishek Sharma and Anmolpreet Singh. The duo went absolutely berserk, leaving cricket fans in awe.

Abhishek and Anmolpreet showcased their exceptional skills, dismantling the opposition’s bowlers with an array of powerful strokes and impressive partnerships. Their partnership not only propelled Punjab to a historic total but also demonstrated their incredible talent and potential.

Talking about the match, Punjab won the toss and elected to bat first. They were all guns blazing right from the start as openers Abhishek and Prabhsimran stitched a 93-run stand for the first wicket. Despite losing Prabhsimran in the 8th over, Abhishek continued to bat aggressively and smashed 112 runs off just 51 balls with 9 fours and as many sixes.

Horrible batting performances by Andhra

Anmolpreet came to bat at no. 4 and played a cracking knock of 87 runs off just 26 deliveries which included 6 fours and 9 sixes and helped the team to achieve a record-breaking total of 275 runs. Chasing the target, Andhra started horribly and lost their 6 wickets on just 34 runs.

However, Andhra’s star batter Ricky Bhui took things into his own hands and smashed a magnificent century. Ricky played like a lone warrior and scored 104 runs off just 52 balls which included 6 fours and 9 sixes. However, he didn’t get any support from other batters and Andhra were bundled out for 170 runs. Harpreet Brar picked up 3 wickets and conceded just 18 runs in his 4 overs quota.

However, this monumental achievement has etched a new chapter in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy’s history books, setting an incredibly high standard for future tournaments and cementing Abhishek Sharma and Anmolpreet Singh’s status as cricketing stars to watch.
