India dominated the first day of the first Test at Hyderabad all the way. The home side ended the day by trailing the first innings by 127 runs after dismissing England at just 246 runs with the ball in the 1st innings. England won the toss and elected to bat first. It was a good decision from Ben Stokes. Unfortunately, the batters of England did not bat as well as expected as a visiting side.

Batting first, the England openers were off to a good start. The likes of Zack Crawley and Ben Duckett posted 55 runs for the first wicket. But the visiting side could not manage to maintain the momentum after having a good start with the bat. The likes of Ollie Pope, Joe Root, and Jonny Bairstow got starts but could not convert them to big ones. As a result, India got into the lower order quickly.

Only Ben Stokes played a fighting knock. the England captain scored 70 runs from his blade and helped his side to get close to a score of 250 runs on the board. England’s lower-order batter added some crucial runs for the side. With the ball, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were the standout performers for India who claimed 3 wickets each.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s knock claims day one honour for India

The duo became the most successful Indian pair in the process. Jasprit Bumrah was impressive with the ball along with Axar Patel. the duo claimed 2 wickets each and helped the Indian cause. Trailing in the 1st innings, India were off to a flier, thanks to the knock of Yashasvi Jaiswal. The youngster batted well with Rohit Sharma and ensured that India ended the day on a good note.

In his stay in the middle, Yashasvi has managed to stay unbeaten with a score of 76*(70). Gill has been intact at the other end along with Jaiswal after losing the wicket of the Indian captain, who perished against the run of play. The honours of the first day belonged to the Indian team who ended the first day with a score of 119/1.
