‘Aaj bhi jalwa h bhai ka’ – Fans praise Zak Crawley as he hits 189 runs against Australia on Day 2 of fourth game of Ashes 2023
England’s opening batter Zak Crawley tore apart Australia’s bowling in the ongoing Day 2 of the 4th Test of the Ashes 2023. At the start of the Day, the visitors, Australia resumed the game with 299/8 on the board. James Anderson, who went wicketless on Day 1, took his first wicket of the Day on the first ball. In the end, the team was bowled 317 runs.
Even though the Aussies could have been bowled out for a lesser score if not for one of the English bowlers didn’t overstep. Meanwhile, after bowling out the Pat Cummins-led side, the home team didn’t have the best start as Ben Duckett got out early. Moeen Ali, who batted at number three once again, scored a fifty but failed to get a big score.
Zak Crawley and Joe Root take England to a healthy lead
At 130.2, the likes of former Test skipper Joe Root and Crawley put together 206 runs for the third wicket. During this process, the Three Lions scored 178 runs in the afternoon session, displaying the full potential of the Bazball theory. Apart from this, even when the likes of Crawley and Ali were batting, the team managed to score at more than five runs per over.
Meanwhile, Crawley went on to score 189 runs in just 182 balls including 21 fours and three sixes. Just when he looked like getting a double hundred in the day itself, he chopped the ball onto the stumps as the Duke Ball didn’t rise much. Notably, the likes of Wasim Akram, MS Dhoni, etc have socred double a hundred in a single day. After a short while, Joe Root followed after getting 84 runs. This led to the home team scoring slowly in the last few overs, ensuring they don’t lose more than four wickets
At the time of writing, stumps have been called and the team has gotten 384/4, leading by 67 runs. The likes of Harry Brook and skipper Ben Stokes are batting at the crease.
