Yuvraj Singh reacts to media’s claims of him contesting in elections

Yuvraj Singh has reacted to the claims from the media regarding his potential content in an election. The reports from the media claimed him to be contesting in an election in the next few months from Gurdaspur. However, Singh refuted them by confirming that he was not taking part in any election. The former Indian batter took to X and confirmed the same.

The winner of the T20 World Cup 2007 claimed that his passion lies in helping and supporting people in different capacities. Yuvraj added that whatever help he can would be done through his foundation ‘You We Can’. He urged the people to make a difference in the lives of the people through whatever they can. The social media post of the star cricketer has now gone viral.

Contrary to media reports, I’m not contesting elections from Gurdaspur. My passion lies in supporting and helping people in various capacities, and I will continue to do so through my foundation @YOUWECAN. Let’s continue making a difference together to the best of our abilities,” wrote Yuvraj on X with a heart emoji. The fans have come in full support of Yuvraj and claimed him to have taken the right decision.

Many cricketers in the past have joined politics as a career option after retiring from cricket. The likes of Gautam Gambhir, Imran Khan, Manoj Tiwary and others have done it. However, not many fans have valued them the same after joining politics. Fans believe that the cricketers should not join politics as it could harm their image. Hence, many cricketers have refused to join politics.

The legacy of Yuvraj is with his cricketing abilities. The star batter was a part of the Indian team that won the U19 WC in 2000, the Champions Trophy in 2002, the T20 World Cup in 2007, and the ODI World Cup in 2011. Yuvraj was the player of the tournament in the ODI WC 2011 where he showed an incredible prowess as an All-rounder despite suffering from cancer. Fans remember his contribution to India to date.
