‘Yeh nasha apun ko bhi karne ka hai’ – Fans roast Gautam Gambhir for suggesting Ishan Kishan & Shubman Gill as openers against Pakistan

Ahead of the India-Pakistan game, Gautam Gambhir has suggested that Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill open the batting. Notably, India skipper Rohit Sharma has opened the batting in ODI cricket since January 2013. However, the two-time World Champion has suggested Sharma demoted down to number 3 and Virat Kohli to four. Even though the playing XI is yet to be known, this statement has landed Gambhir in the pit of trolls.

During a build-up on the broadcaster’s channel, the Member of Parliament said that the only way Indian openers can do well against Pakistan’s new ball bowlers is to look to score. The left-hander added that the more Indian openers look positive, the more they create pressure.

“Often, people talk about Shaheen and Naseem troubling the Indian batters in the World Cup. But it’s all in the past now. ODI is a different format, batters have time to settle into the crease. It’s important to bat in positions where if you get a half-volley, you look to hit it, not just survive. The more positive you are, the more you create pressure. Keep it simple, past is in the past. It’s a new day, new match, different format. Be in attacking mode,” said the former India opener said on Star Sports.
