‘Yeh final wala hee hai naa?’ – Fans react as Apex Cricket Council reschedules 9 matches of ODI World Cup 2023
The ODI World Cup 2023 is just months away with the opener between England and New Zealand taking place in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The largest cricket stadium in the world will also host the marquee clashes between India and Pakistan, England and Australia, and the final game on November 19. As such, the Indian Cricket Board and the Apex Cricket Council had earlier announced the schedule publicly for the marquee tournament. However, a few matches had to be rescheduled and the wait was on for the final schedule. The Apex Council has now rescheduled nine games of the upcoming World Cup.
The marquee clash between India and Pakistan has been rescheduled to 14 October from the original date of 15 October which coincided with the Hindu festival of ‘Navratri’. As such, the shift in date also influences a few matches being rescheduled. England’s clash with Afghanistan has been moved from October 14 to October 15. However, there were no changes in the venues of these games. England and Bangladesh were the two teams that saw the most changes to their schedule. Three of their games have been rescheduled in the new World Cup schedule.
