The much-awaited Cricket World Cup 2023 will return to India after 12 long years. 2011 was the last time ODI World Cup took place in India. But it was co-hosted with neighbours Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. India went on to win the coveted trophy becoming the first team to win the World Cup on home soil. The trend was then carried forward by Australia who won the World Cup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2015 and then England in the most recent edition.

For any World Cup, the clashes between arch-rivals India and Pakistan are the most anticipated ones. Especially after 2008, when the bilateral tours between the two rivals were suspended in light of the terror attacks in Mumbai on 26 November 2008. The two sides have only competed against each other in major tournaments like World Cups, T20 World Cups, Asia Cups, etc.

Narendra Modi Stadium will host the India vs Pakistan ODI World Cup clash

ODI World Cup 2023 will be solely hosted by India between 5 October and 19 November. The headline clash between India and Pakistan will take place in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 15 October. Ever since the schedule for the tournament was made public, people have started their preparations for the marquee event. The tickets for the World Cup 2023 will be made live in August. In the meantime, fans travelling to Ahmedabad from elsewhere have made arrangements for their travel and stay. In light of the same, the rates of air tickets to and from Ahmedabad have soared to new heights for dates in and around October 15. Railway Tickets have already been booked and waiting lists are getting longer each day.

The next big requirement for travelling fans, after travel, is accommodation. Talking of hotels and guest houses, most of them are already booked, and the few available ones are going for surged prices. To counter this problem, some fans, as Ahmedabad Mirror reports, have started booking hospital beds instead. This comes as a desperate move because healthcare facilities like hospitals must always be available for patients and emergency cases. This is immoral on the part of fans as well as the hospital authorities allowing the same.
