‘Ye wala wicketkeeper credit nahi churata’ – Fans react as KL Rahul acknowledges Kuldeep Yadav’s brilliance against Sri Lanka in Asia Cup, refuses to take credit

Indian bowlers displayed a magnificent bowling display in their 2nd Super 4 clash of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, September 12 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. India registered a 41-run victory and successfully defended 213 runs as they bowled out the Sri Lankan team on the score of just 172 runs.

India’s veteran spinner Kuldeep Yadav continued to make the batters struggle with his magnificent bowling as he picked up 4 crucial wickets while conceding only 43 runs in 9.3 overs. KL Rahul and Kuldeep created a plan to dismiss Sri Lanka’s inform batter Sadeera Samarawickrama and executed it brilliantly. However, the fans were impressed after Rahul decided to give all the credit to Kuldeep.

“When you are behind the stumps, you have a good idea as to what the batter is doing and I just passed on the message, luckily it worked for Kuldeep.” Rahul said in the post-match conference.

Rahul also talked about his vital contribution in the middle order while the top order struggled to score. His partnership with Ishan Kishan was very crucial for India to achieve the fighting total in the first innings.

“It was amazing, we were tested throughout. We were not on the field for 100 overs but how many ever overs we were there it tested us physically, great to see we turned up today and gave it our best. We turned up and that is a big tick mark for us as a team. 

Always happy when I contribute to the team, When you are batting in the middle order it is important to build partnerships. I have been out for 4-5 months, I will take anything that comes, it was a crucial partnership with Kishan. Third day in a row playing at the same venue, a bit of spin but we managed it really well, we were 20-30 runs short, few more partnerships could have got us to 230-240.” he said.
