‘Ye nahi sudharne wale’ – Fans react as Headingley crowd insults Steve Smith in shameful way after England’s win in 3rd Test of Ashes 2023

The third Test of the Ashes 2023 series between England and Australia was played at the Headingley in Leeds where the English side finally opened their winning account. England defeated Australia by 3 wickets on Sunday, July 9 and also kept themselves alive in the series. However, the visitors are still ahead with a 2-1 lead over the Three Lions.

Meanwhile, the contest became more intense when the Headingley crowd involved in the heated rivalry and started trolling the Australian vice-captain during the match. Some of the English supporters were spotted wearing Smith’s crying face mask which was referred to his emotional breakdown during a press conference after his infamous ‘Sandpaper Gate’ incident in 2018. Many fans on social media have criticised the English fans for crossing their limits disgracefully.

However, this is not the first time the English crowd is trolling Smith, as during the 1st Test, the crowd at Edgbaston trolled him by chanting ‘Crying on the telly’. Talking about the 3rd Test, England won the toss and elected to bowl first. And with few changes in the squad, the English side delivered a brilliant bowling performance in the 1st innings by dismissing the Australian team on just 263 runs.

Mark Wood picked up a fifer in his first Ashes 2023 series match. Coming to bat, England batters continued their horrible performance and bundled out for just 237 runs. Australian skipper Pat Cummins got 6 wickets while the English skipper displayed a decent batting performance and smashed 80 runs to reduce the lead.

In the 2nd innings, England bowlers once again bowled well and wrapped up the Kangaroos on the score of just 224 runs. Every English bowler contribute well in the innings and the team were given a target of 251 runs. England batters achieved the target in just 50 overs with a whole day remaining. The 4th Test will be played at Old Trafford in Manchester on July 19. The English side will definitely try to win the match as a loss will make them lose the series.
