Despite that, his batting performance in domestics has ensured his place in the team.

Riyan Parag shatters records of elite players with his performance

After smashing his fifth consecutive half-century against Himachal Pradesh on October 25th, Riyan Parag joined the elite list of players. He became the second Indian batter after Virender Sehwag to score five consecutive half-centuries in T20 cricket. Sehwag achieved this feat in the 2012 IPL while playing for King XI Punjab. Apart from them, former Zimbabwe batters Hamilton Masakadza in 2012, Kamran Akmal in 2017, and Jos Buttler in 2018 have all achieved this feat.

David Warner in 2019, Devon Conway in 2021, and Wayne Madsen in 2023 have also achieved this feat. It’s worth noting that despite Riyan Parag’s amazing batting performance, Assam is still on the verge of elimination in the ongoing tournament. The team has registered five wins in seven games and has 20 points. However, they are third in the points table, as Kerala and Himachal Pradesh have a better NRR and win.
