‘Yaha bhi panoti mar diya’ – Fans slam Riyan Parag for his viral tweet regarding Sanju Samson during 2nd WI vs IND ODI

On 29 July 2023, Team India locked horns with West Indies in the second ODI of the three-match series in Bridgetown. However, both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma got rested as Axar Patel and Sanju Samson replaced them. In the series opener, Samson failed to get a place in the final playing XI.

So, fans were not happy but in the second game, fans were happy to see Samson in the playing XI. However, after the first wicket fell, Samson came out to bat and his Rajasthan Royals (RR) teammate, Riyan Parag came up with a tweet that went viral. But, after that, Samson got out on just nine runs and fans slammed Parag for jinxing.

Speaking of the tweet, Parag wrote: ‘Chetta (100 emoji)? #WIvsIND’ It seemed that he was asking if the RR skipper would manage a century in the game. Chetta is a word used to address elder males in Malayalam. Meanwhile, Parag is currently busy playing in the ongoing Deodhar Trophy for the East Zone. In three matches, he has scored 157 runs including nine wickets with the ball. Earlier, he was a part of the India A team that lost the ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup final in Colombo against Pakistan A. 

Speaking of the second ODI, India’s batters had a terrible day as they got bundled out for just 181 runs in 40.5 overs. In reply to that, the Windies chased down the target in 36.4 overs with six wickets in hand. The Windies skipper, Shai Hope won the Player of the Match award for scoring 63* runs off 80 balls, including two fours and two sixes. 

After the match, Hope said: “I’m happy as long as my contributions lead to the win. When things are difficult, you gotta find ways to score quickly. So you gotta run hard, we got twos which helped. Very satisfied, the aim was to get back to the series. We gotta win one more and need to come back strongly.”
