They lost 3-5 to Villarreal in La Liga on Saturday. For the first time since 1963, FC Barcelona conceded five or more goals in a match. Given the result, Xavi has decided to step down from his role on the 30th of June, when the ongoing season comes to an end. Xavi claimed that he decided after consulting with the President and other staff members.

“On June 30, I will leave the club. It’s a decision I have taken with the president, with the staff,” said Xavi after the loss against Villarreal. The former FC Barcelona player added that being the manager of the club is a cruel and an unpleasant experience. He felt that people lack respect for the individuals at times. Xavi felt that he is doing the right thing and is acting with common sense.

“The feeling of being Barca coach is cruel, unpleasant, it feels like people lack respect for you a lot of the time. I have the feeling that I am doing the right thing, that I am acting with common sense,” added Xavi in his statement. Xavi was spirited and added that they would go for La Liga, although winning it would be difficult.

Xavi felt that the dynamics in Barcelona had not been good. The former player of the club felt optimistic about the change in dynamics and added that he is confident in the technical team of the club. Xavi felt that the players were letting the technical team down. “I think the club needs a change of dynamics; the dynamic is very negative,” felt Xavi.
