Atletico Madrid have managed to take revenge against the arch-rivals Real Madrid in a stunning fashion. In the Copa del Rey 2024 match, Atletico Madrid emerged victorious against Real Madrid with a goal margin of 4-2. A great performance from Atletico meant that Real Madrid were out of the game for the most part despite playing well in the middle at Civitas Metropolitan Stadium in Madrid.

The win comes for Atletico Madrid just days after they lost to archrivals in the semifinal of the Spanish Super Cup. A few days back, a thriller took place between the two sides, where Real Madrid managed to beat Atletico Madrid in the extra time by scoring two goals. Till that point, the match was in balance with both the sides scoring three goals each.

This time around, the match was totally dominated by Atletico Madrid. For Atletico Madrid, Antonie Griezmann was brilliant as he scored a goal and helped in creating opportunities for the side. Lino and Morata also scored goals for Atletico before Antonie did. The match was in a crucial phase after the extra time where the scoreline was 2-2 all. Hence, it got carried on to the extra time, where Antonie clutched to take the lead against Real Madrid.

Riquelme strengthened the position of Atletico by scoring a goal in the 119th minute of the game, which all but ensured that his side won the match. It meant that the much-anticipated treble eluded from the cabinet of real Madrid for yet another instance. They are yet to win the treble in the last 121 years, which is a long period, considering how good they are as a side in the Football world.
