As cricket fans eagerly await the highly anticipated Asia Cup 2023 Final between India and Sri Lanka, concerns about the weather in Colombo have emerged as a potential spoiler for the showdown. The contest is set to be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, September 17.

The rain has played spoilsport multiple times in the tournament so far. The biggest clash of the tournament, India vs Pakistan was also affected by the rain due to which the second half of the match was played on the reserve day. This has raised apprehensions about the possibility of a cancellation or a rain-shortened match, which could significantly impact the outcome.

Both teams have shown exceptional form throughout the tournament, and fans from both nations are hoping for a thrilling contest. However, the unpredictable nature of the weather could introduce an element of unpredictability that may favour no side. India and Sri Lanka both have lost only 1 match in the tournament so far. However, Sri Lanka’s loss came against India, while the Men in Blue suffered a loss to Bangladesh.

Is there a ‘Reserve day’ for the final?

The ground staff at the R Premadasa Stadium has worked hard a lot throughout the tournament. All the expectations will be on them once again for the last time to keep the ground unaffected by rain. The weather forecast for the India vs. Sri Lanka Asia Cup final isn’t very promising. According to the weather reports, there is a significant 80 per cent chance of rain in Colombo on the scheduled date of September 17. To make matters worse, thunderstorms are also in the forecast for the city on the final day. There will also be a 70 per cent chance of rain at 7:30 pm

Cricket enthusiasts worldwide will be anxiously following weather updates in the lead-up to the final, hoping for a break in the clouds and a memorable match that lives up to expectations. Interestingly there is no reserve day for the final clash while there was a reserve day for a Super Fours clash between India and Pakistan.
