Ayushman Khurrana is all set to play the role of Sourav Ganguly in his biopic. In the last few months, there were rumours that Ayushman might play the tough role of Ganguly in his biopic. It seems like the reports have turned out to be true. The movie is likely to be directed by Vikramaditya Motwane who is known for his works in the past like ‘Lootera’, ‘Udaan’, and so on.

The popular film-maker is all set to collaborate with Ayushman for the biopic of Sourav Ganguly which is going to be a difficult job to pull off without a doubt. Ayushman has not been able to find the right chord in the last few months. The star actor has not been able to deliver massive hits at the box office post-pandemic. This might be a game-changer for him.

As an actor, Khurrana is proven. He can be trusted to deliver the goods. However, the success of the movie will depend on how well the duo of Khurrana and Motwani can execute it. Biopics in India have not been able to garner the attraction of an audience. In particular, the sports biopics from Bollywood have not been able to manage to bring the audience to the theatres.

Big challenge ahead of the duo

The challenge for the duo would be to provide a movie with a good story without twisting the facts. People like realism in biopics. Ganguly though was not a straightforward person to any extent. The former Indian captain had a layered character. In his playing days, the star batter was known for his aggression on the field. Outside it, he is known to be a calm person.

The most iconic days of Ganguly came when he was the captain of the side in the early 200s to the mid-2000s period. In the period, India witnessed a transformation. There will be huge expectations from the movie for the fans. If made well, there can be a big market for the movie which includes the fans of cricket and the actor-director duo.

Here’s how the fans reacted to the news –
