The 21st match of the ODI World Cup 2023 brought together two cricket powerhouses, Team India and New Zealand, in an epic clash in Dharamsala on Sunday, October 22. Both teams had an impressive run so far, each winning all four of their previous matches in the tournament.

The anticipation was high as fans eagerly awaited a showdown that promised to be a cricketing spectacle. Meanwhile, India’s prolific middle-order batter Suryakumar got to make his World Cup debut as he was included in the team in place of injured Hardik Pandya. However, things didn’t go down well for Suryakumar.

The right-handed batter came to bat when India lost their 4 wickets while chasing the target of 274 runs. Many fans believed that he would take the team to victory by batting till the end but that didn’t happen as the right-handed batter got run out in the 34th over after a horrible mix-up with Virat Kohli.

Brilliant bowling performance by India

Talking about the match so far, New Zealand started their innings with a bat start as the Kiwi batting order encountered difficulties in settling, eventually tallying 273 runs within their allocated 50 overs. The standout player for New Zealand was Daryl Mitchell, who delivered an exhilarating performance, amassing 130 runs.

For Team India, it was the pace bowler Mohammed Shami who claimed the spotlight, securing a remarkable five wickets. His precise and fiery bowling consistently pressured the Kiwi batters throughout their innings.

Chasing the target, there was an initial expectation that Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill might encounter some challenges from the Kiwi bowlers, namely Trent Boult and Matt Henry. Surprisingly, this did not transpire as they forged a strong 71-run partnership for the first wicket. However, as the match progressed, India began to lose wickets despite their promising start. As of the current moment, India’s score stands at 230/5.
