Former India batting coach, Sanjay Bangar, recently shared emotional insights into the Indian cricket team’s heartbreaking elimination from the 2019 World Cup, where New Zealand defeated the Men in Blue in the semi-final clash. Bangar described the moment as “heartbreaking” for all the players, as India had showcased excellent cricket throughout the tournament.

India’s strong performance saw them win seven matches in the league phase, making their unexpected exit even more difficult to accept. Notably, Bangar touched upon the emotional state of the players in the dressing room. He revealed that the disappointment ran deep, with some of the most seasoned players like MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant expressing their emotions openly.

“It was a heartbreaking moment for all the players as India were playing excellent cricket. We won seven matches in the league phase and to bow out like that was not good. Players cried like kids. MS Dhoni was crying like children. Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant had tears in their eyes. Such stories remain in the dressing room,” Bangar said in the commentary box.

India and New Zealand both have won their first 4 matches in ODI World Cup 2023

Sanjay Bangar’s revelations came during the ongoing 21st match of the ODI World Cup 2023 between India and New Zealand at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday, October 22. Both teams, as he noted, are unbeaten in the ongoing tournament, showcasing the intense competition and dedication that surrounds the cricketing world.

While the Indian cricket team has faced setbacks in the past, the current World Cup presents a chance for them to reclaim their glory on the field. With an impressive record of four consecutive wins, the Men in Blue are on a winning streak in the tournament. However, the upcoming match poses a significant challenge, as the New Zealand team has historically held an advantage over India in major world tournaments.
