The Indian cricket team is riding a wave of confidence in the ongoing 2023 ODI World Cup, having secured 7 consecutive victories in the tournament. Given their outstanding performance, it’s safe to say that they are the top contenders to win the championship. In their most recent match, which took place on November 2 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, India dominated Sri Lanka, winning by an impressive margin of 302 runs.

In the wake of this remarkable victory, India’s fielding coach, T Dilip, announced that the ‘Best Fielder’ award would be determined by the renowned former Indian cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar, widely known as the ‘Master Blaster,’ made a virtual appearance to inspire the players with his motivating words. He then revealed that Shreyas Iyer was the recipient of the award for his exceptional athletic performance on the field against Sri Lanka.

Notably, this marks the second occasion that Iyer has been awarded the ‘Best Fielder’ accolade in the ongoing tournament, underscoring his unwavering commitment to honing his fielding skills. His ability to save runs and make crucial catches consistently contributes to the team’s success.

With this win, the Men in Blue have become the first squad to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, there are still remaining league-stage matches for the Indian team. Their eighth match is scheduled against South Africa, to be held at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens on Sunday, November 5.

This encounter promises to be thrilling, as it pits the two top-performing teams of the World Cup against each other. India currently leads the table with 14 points from 7 matches, while the Proteas occupy the second spot with 12 points in the same number of matches. India’s final league-stage match will be against the Netherlands on November 12 at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
