Amid the ongoing Namaz row over Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan’s religious display, former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi’s video went viral on social media. In a viral video, Afridi can be seen advocating for India’s tour of Pakistan. He also asked fans to leave hate and work together to improve bilateral ties.

While speaking about his stance on the ties between both countries, Afridi said that cricket might help to improve them. “Who is denying? India, but not Pakistan. Aap India ki team ko bhejiye to sahi, hum unhein Sar ankhon par rakhenge (You send the Indian team to Pakistan and we will offer them the best-ever treatment),” said Afridi.

It’s worth noting that the clip is from early this year. It came when the Indian Cricket Board denied travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023. Eventually, the tournament was hosted in a hybrid model in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. India eventually won the tournament by defeating Sri Lanka in the finals.

Shahid Afridi’s sister passed away in Karachi

Days after being hospitalised Shahid Afridi’s beloved sister passed away in a hospital in Karachi on Tuesday morning. The former Pakistan all-rounder took to Twitter (now X) to share the news with his fans. Earlier, he had made a tweet asking fans to pray for her sister as she was hospitalized. However, she lost her fight with the illness.

“Surely we belong to Allah, and to him we shall return. With heavy hearts, we inform you that our beloved sister passed away and her Namaz e Janazah will be on 17.10.2023 after Zuhur prayer at Zakariya Masjid main 26th street Khayaban e Ghalib DHA”, Afridi wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that ahead of their game against Australia, many Pakistani players are reportedly sick. Their practice sessions in Bengaluru have been cancelled after reports of viral fever. Players like Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan are suffering from it.
