WATCH: Sarfaraz Khan’s family get emotional after his India Test debut vs England in Rajkot
The wait is finally over as Sarfaraz Khan is formally an Indian player. The 26-year-old was handed his Test cap on Thursday ahead of the third Test vs England in Rajkot. The accolade is a huge one considering his tall run-scoring feats in domestic cricket.
Naushad Khan, Sarfaraz Khan’s father, had tears in his eyes when the youngster got his cap. Sarfaraz could be seen hugging his father and wiping his mother’s tears on what is a huge day for the family.

Young wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel is also making his Test debut in Rajkot. The 22-year-old has replaced KS Bharat, who has struggled with the bat so far this series. Jurel is known to be a safe wicketkeeper and also a good batter.
Dream come true for two Indian youngsters
Indian cricket saw emotional scenes in Rajkot when Sarfaraz Khan got his Test cap on Thursday. The youngster was given his maiden call-up ahead of the second Test in Vizag for the injured KL Rahul.
The 26-year-old came onto the field on the fourth and final day of the 2nd Test as a substitute. Shubman Gill had injured his finger while fielding during the game. The focus of the world will be now on Sarfaraz Khan when he comes out to bat.
It is expected the right-handed batter will be slotted at number 5 behind Rajat Patidar. KL Rahul is still not fit after suffering an injury to his quadriceps muscle in Hyderabad. The series currently stands at 1-1 heading into the third game.
Mark Wood was named in the England XI on Wednesday replacing Shoaib Bashir. Jack Leach has already been ruled out of the series due to his knee injury. Ben Stokes the English skipper is playing the 100th Test match of his career.
It is also a huge Test match for Ravichandran Ashwin as he is one wicket short of 500 Test scalps. The 37-year-old also is set to become the 2nd fastest bowler to achieve this feat. Team India won the toss and chose to bat first on a flat-looking wicket. Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja came into the team and replaced Mukesh Kumar and Axar Patel.
