WATCH: Sadeera Samarawickrama imitates Virat Kohli-like celebration after scoring a hundred against Pakistan

Sri Lanka batter Sadeera Samawickrama imitated former India skipper Virat Kohli after getting his maiden ODI hundred against Pakistan. In the ongoing game, the 1996 winners won the toss and elected to bat first. They lost an early wicket of Kusal Perera (0). However, with Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis put together 102 runs for the second wicket. The former got 51 before getting out to Shadab Khan.

On the other hand, Mendis hit a 67-ball hundred, carrying on from a quick fifty against South Africa. The right-hander ended up getting 77-ball 122 including 14 fours and six sixes. After his wicket, Samarawickrama came in and scored his maiden ODI hundred. He made his comeback in the team after a long time during the Asia Cup 2023.

Meanwhile, in the ongoing game, the right-hander scored 108 off 99 balls. After getting to the milestone, he imitated Virat’s celebration, which the latter did during India’s tour of Australia 2018-19. In the second Test in Perth, Kohli did the same celebration as Samarawickrama did in the ongoing game.

Virat Kohli will be in action against Afghanistan on October 11

Coming off a match-winning 85 against Australia, the former India skipper will be in action against Afghanistan in Delhi on October 11. The 34-year-old helped the team win the game by six wickets alongside KL Rahul, who got 97 not out. Chasing 200, the Men in Blue had lost three wickets for two runs. Thanks to Kohli and Rahul’s 163-run partnership, the team won the game.

Talking about the ongoing game, the 1992 winners managed to bring themselves into the game. In the last few overs, the team kept taking wickets and restricted the Lankans to 344/9. After the wicket of Mendis, the scoring rate dropped significantly. In reply, the Green Brigade lost two wickets for 37 runs. At the time of writing, they have reached 270/3 in 39.5 overs, needing 75 runs in 61 balls.
