India are playing their 7th match of the ODI World Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, November 2. The Men in Blue are roaring with 6 out of 6 wins in the tournament so far and are currently standing at the 2nd position in the points table.

Meanwhile, despite his remarkable form throughout the tournament, India’s skipper and in-form batter Rohit Sharma failed to make a significant impact against Sri Lanka. Although he started with a boundary, he appeared to misjudge the ball and was dismissed on the second delivery. The Indian captain was clean-bowled by a superb delivery from Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka leaving the fans and her wife Ritika Sajdeh stunned.

It’s important for us to not get carried away by the performances: Rohit Sharma

Earlier, Sri Lankan skipper Kusal Mendis won the toss and decided to bowl first, anticipating that the pitch would favour batting later on. Commending the consistent efforts of the players in recent matches, he expressed hope for continued excellence. The island nation is currently sitting in the 7th position with only 2 wins in 6 matches.

On the other hand, Rohit after losing the toss said, “Would have batted first, good pitch to bat on. Obviously, some assistance to start with but under lights there will be good assistance for our pacers. Great honour, and a great moment to lead the team (first match as as Indian captain at home ground). It’s important for us to not get carried away by the performances we put in. Same team as the last game.”
