The ODI World Cup 2023 came to an end with Australia winning their sixth World title. The Indian team came so close yet remained so far from the title. The loss hurt India a lot, but there were many positives from the match and tournament for India. In the tournament, fielding was celebrated like never before in the Indian dressing room. After each match, a medal was presented to the best fielders of the match.

After the final, the best fielder of the match medal was claimed by Virat Kohli. The Indian fielder won the award, as he took a sensational catch to dismiss David Warner early in the Australian innings. Ravindra Jadeja, the winner of the medal in the semifinal against New Zealand, presented the award to Virat Kohli. It was good to see Virat smiling a bit while receiving the medal.

Jadeja was happy to award the medal to Virat. It marked the end of India’s last medal ceremony of the tournament in the dressing room. From the first match till the last match, there were some brilliant efforts on the field from Indian fielders. There were many award winners in different matches. But the last medal winner saw the least vibe in the dressing room.

Celebration of Team India in the dressing room

Before the medal was handed over to Virat, footage displayed the highs of the Indian team in the tournament. There were moments depicting how the players won the best fielder awards in all their matches and the way India gave those awards to players in different ways. Spider cam, TV screen, Stadium screen, and several other methods were used to reveal the winners.

It was fitting that Virat won the first award of the tournament and ended up winning the last one. Interestingly, both the medal wins came against Australia, in different match results. It was the final celebration of the Indian team which performed very well in the tournament. India is set to play Australia in the bilateral T20I series starting later this week.
