WATCH: Ravichandran Ashwin produces magical delivery to get rid off Kraigg Braithwaite in 2nd Test

The second and final Test of the two-match series between India and the West Indies is currently taking place at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain. West Indies resumed their batting on the third day at 86/1 in response to India’s 438. Despite some rain delays, the Men in Blue are in a great position in the match as West Indies have lost 5 wickets on just 229 runs on Day 3.

Meanwhile, the no.1 Test bowler Ravichandran Ashwin produced a magical delivery in the 73rd over to get rid of West Indies captain Kraigg Braithwaite who batted really well. The fourth delivery of the over was when Ashwin finally succeeded in getting the ball to drift away from the right-hander. When it hit a rough patch and spun hard in, it forced Brathwaite to defend in front of the ball. The middle stump was struck by the ball after it passed through the batter’s body and bat.

Are West Indies playing just to avoid the loss?

Ashwin sent Brathwaite back to the pavilion with a score of 75 runs off 235 deliveries that included fours and sixes, however, he was patiently batting to fend off the Indian bowling attack on a slow pitch. It took him 170 deliveries to reach his 29th half-century.

West Indies need only 10 more runs to avoid the follow-on and to make India bat again. However, it looks like the Windies are not playing with a winning mindset and are just avoiding a loss. They scored at barely two runs per over and doggedly reached stumps on 229-4 in reply to India’s 438 on Day 3.

It’d be interesting to see West Indie’s approach on the 4th day of the match as they still have 5 wickets in hand with Alick Athanaze and Jason Holder on the crease but they are still trailing by 209 runs. On the other hand, India will look to wrap up the Windies’ innings early and set a target for them in the final innings of the match.
