England have taken an edge over the Australian team in the ongoing 4th Test of the Ashes 2023 series which is being played at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester. The Three Lions are in a pretty comfortable situation to level the series 2-2. Australia have already lost their 4 wickets in their 2nd innings and are still trailing 162 runs with 2 days remaining.

Meanwhile, Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood talked about the current situation of the match. Hazlewood also knows that his team are not in a great position and said that if the rain persists, he’d be very happy as it will reduce the number of overs and it might also make their job a little easier.

“I’d be very pleased. It’s obviously forecast but forecasts can change all the time. Obviously, rain and light play a big part in cricket and has done forever. So, yeah, it’d be great to lose a few overs here and there, and make our job a little easier if I’m hanging in there,” the 32-year-old was quoted as saying by CricTracker.

We’ll still turn up with the same mindset: Jonny Bairstow

On the other hand, England’s wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow, who missed his century by just 1 run and went unbeaten on the score of 99 runs in the first innings, said that he is not Michael Fish (famous BBC weather reporter of 1980s and 90s). He said that the weather won’t affect their game style and they will play with the same mindset and will aim to take the remaining six wickets on the 4th day itself.

“The weather is the weather, and I’m not Michael Fish. Coming in tomorrow, if there is a bit of weather around, maybe some overheads, you’d like to hope we’re able to create some chances. The weathermen have been right, the weathermen have been wrong, who knows what’s going to happen? We’ll still turn up with the same mindset and that will be to try and take another six wickets,” Bairstow was quoted as saying by WION.
