WATCH: Rachin Ravindra reveals reasons behind his unique name
New Zealand batter Rachin Ravindra has been a star in the last few days. During his team’s first warm-up game against Pakistan, he opened the batting and scored 97 runs. In the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, Ravindra played the tournament opener against England. Regular skipper Kane Williamson was missing the game as he wasn’t ready to take the field.
Meanwhile, Rachin played at number three in place of Williamson. In the game, the defending champions batted first and managed 282/9. Only Joe Root (77) got his half-century. Due to lack of partnerships and big innings, the Three Lions failed to get a big score. In reply, the Blackcaps lost only one wicket in the game. After this, the likes of Ravindra and Conway scored an unbeaten hundred each.
They helped the team reach the nine wickets and 13.4 overs left in the game. After the game, a video of the Wellington player talking about his unique name is going viral.

Good to get the opportunity: Rachin Ravindra
After the game, the left-hander was adjudged Player of the Match. He started to take on the bowlers from the first few players.
“Great to have a great day. Boys bowled and fielded well to restrict them to 280. Luckily I had Devon out there to show me how to do it. (I am) Very very close with Devon. Special to finish it off with him. 4-5 years ago, we all knew Devon would become the player he is. Above all, he’s a great guy. Good to get the opportunity. We’ll see what happens. I’m actually quite a good sleeper luckily. There was some swing, but the surface was really good to bat on,” Rachin Ravindra said during post-match.
