In the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 opener, England and New Zealand are locking horns. Early in the day, the two-time finalists, NZ won the toss and elected to bowl first. The defending champions were also looking to bowl first. They bowl well although some of the few wickets of English batters gave an impression of them not taking their chances well.

While batting, only Joe Root (77) managed to reach his half-centuries. Other players such as Jonny Bairstow (33), Harry Brook (25), and skipper Jos Buttler (43). The Blackcaps bowlers kept taking wickets despite getting hit for runs. In the end, they managed to restrict the Three Lions to 282/9. Matt Henry took three wickets while Mitchell Santner and part-timer Glenn Philips took two each. Apart from them, Trent Boult and Rachin Ravindra took one each.

Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway hit individual hundreds and hammered England

In reply, the Tom Latham-led side had a poor start as Will Young (0) bagged a golden duck as he was caught down the leg side. On 10/1, Ravindra was promoted up the order with Kane Williamson out of this game due to niggle. Meanwhile, both lefties, Ravindra and Conway have put together 197 runs and counting at the time of writing.

First up, the former scored his first ODI WC hundred including 14 fours and two sixes. He brought up his hundred in just the 27th over. Both have dominated the opposition bowling as they maintained the run rate between seven to eight runs per over. At this point, it looks like the two-time finalists will not just have their 2019 final revenge but will eventually hammer the defending champions by a big margin.

For the change, the English players are getting the taste of their own medicine. Meanwhile, in the 31st over, Ravindra scored his maiden ODI WC hundred too.
