During the 31st game of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL 2024), former Pakistan international Ahmed Shahzad got hurt. Playing for Fortune Barishal against Dhuronto Dhaka, the 2017 Champions Trophy took a catch of Mohammad Naim diving forward. However, while taking the catch, the former Pakistan opening batter hurt his chest but managed to take a clean catch.

Since the National League T20 last year, the former Quetta Gladiators player in the PSL has been scoring consistently and has been pushing for his comeback in the national side. He played his last international game in the Champions Trophy 2017. During the tournament, Fakhar Zaman replaced him and since then, he has remained an integral part of the team.

Shoaib Malik makes his comeback in the BPL 2024

Early in the tournament, former Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik bowled three no balls and was alleged to have been involved in spot-fixing. However, Barishal skipper has addressed the rumour by saying that Malik left the tournament due to his prior commitment in Dubai.

“I would like to address and dismiss the recent rumors circulating about my playing position with Fortune Barishal. I had a thorough discussion with our captain, Tamim Iqbal, and we mutually planned the way forward. I had to leave Bangladesh for a pre-committed media engagement in Dubai,” he posted.

“I extend my best wishes to Fortune Barishal for their upcoming matches, and if needed, I am available to support them if needs be.”

“I have always found joy in playing the game and will continue to do so.”

“I want to emphasize the importance of exercising caution when it comes to rumors, especially those circulating recently. I want to make it clear that I strongly refute these baseless rumors. It’s crucial for everyone to verify information before believing and spreading it.”
