After playing for India, I have stopped driving bikes: Shami

Meanwhile, in a recent interview, Shami spoke about his passion for driving, revealing that he used to drive tractors, buses and trucks. He also mentioned that since he started playing for India, he had stopped riding his bike due to fear of injury.

“I like travelling, fishing. I like driving a lot. I like driving bike and cars. But after playing for India, I have stopped driving bikes. What if I get injured? I drive bike on highways, may be sometimes in village when I go to meet my mom.”

“Zameen se hi aaya hu. Kheto ki jo booghi hoti hai, I have driven tractor, bus, trucks. I have driven bus in truck. One of my school friends had a truck in his house. He told me to drive. I was small then and was driving on a ground. I drove our tractor into the pond too. My father scolded me.”

Shami had a great campaign with Team India in the 2023 ODI World Cup. He was benched in the initial matches, but on his return, proved the management’s decision wrong with some exceptional bowling displays. Shami finished the tournament with 24 wickets at an average of 10.71. He also registered three fifers and one three-wicket haul.
