Former Pakistan skipper Mohammad Hafeez has claimed that currently injured Pakistan players are getting ready to play T20 Leagues. Notably, when he became the team director, he asked Haris Rauf to get ready for the Test series in Australia. However, the speedster denied the call, citing his workload management. During the series, Rauf played for the Melbourne Stars in the Men’s Big Bash League 2023-24.

This created a massive controversy and close to two months later, his central contract was terminated. As per the new central contracts that the players signed right ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023, it stated that the players need to be available for national duty. Also, they can only only play two T20 League in one year including the Pakistan Super League.

Meanwhile, a short while back, the Champions Trophy 2017 winner was removed as the director of the team. The Pakistan Cricket Board’s leadership has changed with Mohsin Naqvi replacing Zaka Ashraf, and Hafeez has been removed. Even though political appointments are not allowed as per the Apex Council, the PCB keeps getting away.

“I accepted the new role as a director PCB with great passion to make positive reforms but unfortunately my designated tenure which was offered by the PCB for 4 years was cut short for 2 months on the account of new chairmanship,” Hafeez said on X (formerly Twitter).
Meanwhile, during the ongoing PSL 9 transmission on the TV rights holder, the former Pakistan skipper claimed that players get easily ready to play in the leagues despite the injury.

The former opening batter gave his best wishes for Pakistan cricket’s future after his was removed from his post.

“Best wishes for Pakistan cricket future,” Hafeez said. “As always, I foremost take responsibility and put myself accountable for all my executions in my given time and will accordingly reveal all the cricketing and other amateur non-cricketing facts which ensue bad performances. Stay tuned…”
