The fans witnessed some light-hearted banter on Thursday, November 9 morning as former England captain Michael Vaughan took to a popular microblogging site X (formerly known as Twitter) to share a video of former Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Hafeez’s dismissal to none other than Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli.

The video, which captured Hafeez’s intriguing dismissal, quickly caught the attention of cricket fans. Vaughan, renowned for his clever and sometimes playful comments on social media, injected a dose of humour into his post. This came at a time when Hafeez had been quite critical of Kohli’s strike rate. Nevertheless, the video Vaughan shared has garnered immense appreciation from Kohli’s fans. It’s noteworthy that Kohli isn’t typically associated with bowling, so the incident of Hafeez getting dismissed off his delivery added an element of embarrassment.

Watch the video here:

Hafeez called Virat Kohli a ‘selfish’

The exchange of words between the two ex-cricketers began when Hafeez voiced his criticism of Kohli’s performance as he reached his 49th ODI century, matching the legendary Sachin Tendulkar‘s record for the most ODI hundreds. Hafeez remarked that Kohli decelerated when he approached his century and characterized him as ‘self-centred.’

Vaughan then lashed out at Hafeez for his statement and explained that the pitch was pretty difficult to bat on and the way Kohli batted on it was amazing. “Come on @MHafeez22 !!! India have hammered 8 teams playing great cricket .. @imVkohli. now has 49 tons and his last was an anchor role inning on a tricky pitch .. His team won by over 200 !!!! This is utter nonsense..” he tweeted.

Once more, Hafeez indirectly targeted Virat Kohli by citing Ben Stokes’ innings against the Netherlands as an example. He highlighted how Stokes managed to score a century under pressure while maintaining his aggressive approach throughout the innings. Additionally, he mentioned that he tagged Vaughan in his post.

“Saviour of the ship @benstokes38. Good 100 under pressure anchoring the innings where required with aggressive intent to get Maximum runs for the team to win at the end. Sheer example to differentiate Selfish vs Selfless approach @MichaelVaughan,” Hafeez wrote.
