Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Indian team’s debutant opening batter, made his Test debut unforgettable by smashing a century on Day 2 of the opening Test against the West Indies in Dominica on Thursday. However, a video of him cursing a West Indian player while speaking with Virat Kohli is doing the rounds on social media.

Day 2 of the Dominica Test was dominated by India, who finished at 312/2. Jaiswal was still on 143 at stumps while Rohit was dismissed shortly after reaching three figures. Jaiswal was heard cursing Kohli towards the close of the day’s play while criticising a West Indian player. “Hatt na b***c**d samne se. Samne aake khada ho gaya [He should be moving away, came and stood in front],” Jaiswal said.

One can decipher from the video that Jaiswal was referring to the bowler who was placed directly in front of him. By the end of Day 2’s play, Kohli and Jaiswal had scored an unbeaten 72 runs for the third wicket. Jaiswal is unbeaten at 143, and Kohli is batting at 36 off 96 balls with just one four to his credit.

‘An emotional moment, was just proud of myself’ – Yashasvi Jaiswal on his debut Test century

Speaking after registering a century in his first Test, Jaiswal called the experience emotional. “[It] was an emotional moment (on his century), was just proud of myself, thankful for everyone, this is just a start and I want to do well going further. It’s difficult to get opportunities in the Indian team, I would like to thank everyone, the supporters, team management, and Rohit Bhai,” he told Jio Cinema.

“The outfield is very slow, it was difficult and challenging, it was pretty hot and I wanted to keep doing it for my country, just play ball-by-ball and enjoy my cricket. I love Test cricket, I like this challenge, and I enjoy the situation when the ball swings and seams. We have worked hard on everything, I’ve just gone out to express myself,” Jaiswal added speaking about the surface at Dominica.
