India skipper Rohit Sharma is not just known for his stellar batting but also for his on-field antics that bring a lighthearted touch to the game. In a recent instance, during the second Test match against England in Vishakhapatnam, Rohit’s amusing banter with Kuldeep Yadav stole the spotlight.

It all unfolded during the second over of England’s second inning when Zak Crawley faced a delivery from Jasprit Bumrah. The wicketkeeper, KS Bharat, made a loud appeal, leaving some Indian fielders convinced that an edge was involved. In a bid to persuade Rohit Sharma to take a review, Kuldeep Yadav rushed towards him.

However, Rohit, with a disinterested expression, left fans in splits by not entertaining the idea. The subsequent replay confirmed no bat involvement, and Rohit’s nonchalant response, marked by a smile and a two-thumbs-up gesture to the camera, added a humorous touch to the proceedings, earning cheers from the crowd and becoming a viral moment on social media.

Can Rohit Sharma lead India to defend the total?

While Rohit’s on-field antics bring a lighter mood to the game, the match itself saw Shubman Gill’s brilliant century, steering India to set England an imposing target of 399 runs. As England started their second innings, opener Ben Duckett‘s aggressive partnership with Zak Crawley was interrupted by Ravichandran Ashwin, who claimed his 497th Test wicket by dismissing Duckett for 28.

Despite this setback, England reached 67-1 at stumps, with Crawley on 29 and nightwatchman Rehan Ahmed at the crease with nine runs. The upcoming challenge for England is a record victory target of 399, with India’s bowlers aiming to defend their lead in the five-match series.

As the game unfolds, Rohit Sharma’s on-field charisma continues to add an entertaining dimension to the cricketing action, making him not just a captain but also a crowd favourite for his humour and spontaneity.
