Under strength, the South African team made an amazing comeback during the 2nd Test vs New Zealand. At stumps on day three, the home team still need 227 runs to win and have lost Devon Conway. David Bedingham scored his maiden Test century to help set a target of 267 for New Zealand.

Glenn Phillips showed the world his amazing prowess as a fielder to dismiss Keegan Petersen. The 27-year-old flew low to his right and took a sharp catch to give Matt Henry a key wicket.

New Zealand holds a 1-0 lead in the series after winning the first Test. The South Africans are touring down under without their full strength side. Most of the players were playing in the SA20 tournament till recently. Aiden Markram and his side Sunrisers won the title for the 2nd year in a row.

David Bedingham scores his maiden ton for South Africa

South Africa began the day armed with an overall leadoff 31 against New Zealand cricket. Rachin Ravindra struck first when he had the wicket of wicketkeeper Fortuin for 3. William O Rourke then got two wickets dismissing Van Tonder for 1 and Neil Brand for 34.

Zubayr Hamza was out for 17 before David Bedingham and Keegan Petersen added 98 runs for the 5th wicket. With wickets falling at regular intervals it was up to David Bedingham to take his team through. The right-handed batter had just made his Test debut for South Africa vs India recently.

Young William O Rourke picked career best 5/34 from his 13.5 overs. The young pacer combined well with Glenn Phillips to nip out the Protean lower order. There was ample delight in the face of Bedingham as he reached his century. Von Berg held on for 22 balls to score his 2 runs before falling in the 70th over. The 110-run knock by Bedingham came off 141 balls with 12 fours and two sixes.

Chasing 267 to win, New Zealand began well with Tom Latham and Devon Conway opening the batting. 40 runs were added for the first wicket before Dane Piedt got the ball to come into the batter. The umpire Conway out LBW as the batter looked for the review. The third umpire saw the umpire had made the right call as he stayed with the on-field call.
