The 1st test of the 3-match Test series is being played between Australia and Pakistan at the Perth Stadium in Perth on Thursday, December 14. The highlight of the series is Australia’s veteran opener David Warner who is playing the last Test series of his phenomenal career.

However, it doesn’t look like there is any kind of pressure on Warner to play his last series as he is toying with Pakistani pacers. The stylish left-hander smashed a wonderful shot to Pakistan premium pacer Shaheen Afridi which went for a six. During the 22nd over of the 1st innings, Warner scooped the delivery towards fine leg for a massive six,

Brilliant start by David Warner and Usman Khawaja

Talking about the match, Australia won the toss and opted to bat first and the decision proved right as Warner and Usman Khawaja provided a strong start to the team and stitched a 126-run stand for the first wicket. Warner displayed an aggressive batting performance while Khawaja remained calm. However, the latter’s calm knock came to an end during the 30th over as Afridi got him caught behind on the score of 41 runs.

Warner and Marnus Labuschagne are currently at the crease at the time of writing this article and the score is 148/1 with Warner batting on 83 while Labuschagne on 11. The Kangaroos are having a phenomenal year as they won the World Test Championship (WTC), retained the Ashes and won their 6th ODI World Cup. They came into the series with high spirits and are likely to win it as well.

On the other hand, Pakistan couldn’t perform well this year. Their recent performance in the ODI World Cup 2023 was one of the examples of their below-par performance. However, the PCB has made some interesting changes to the captaincy role as Shan Masood is leading the Test team against Australia after Babar Azam resigned.
