Warner had a brilliant end to his Test career as Australia won the Test against Pakistan by 8 wickets and gave the perfect ending to Warner at SCG. The home side needed just 130 runs to win against Pakistan. The task was not difficult, but the wicket of Usman Khawaja early in the innings made things a bit tricky. The Southpaw was dismissed for a 6-ball duck.

Warner was joined by Marnus Labuschagne in the middle. The duo ensured no more hiccups through the rest of the innings as the home side was able to see off the chase without any more troubles. Warner batted well in his final innings. The star batter scored 57 runs in 75 balls which included some quality stroke-making. Marnus Labuschagne scored a fifty as well.

‘It is pretty much a dream come true’ – David Warner

After the match, Warner spoke to the broadcasters. The 37-year-old felt that it was like a dream come true moment to retire the way he did. He recalled the incredible few months in Australia. “Yeah, look it is pretty much a dream come true. It has been a great 18-20 months for Australian cricket. The World Test Championship, the World Cup, and then capping it off here,” said Warner.

The Australian opener felt happy for capping off after winning the WTC final and the ODI World Cup in 2023. He further praised the bowlers and Mitchell Marsh for helping the team to win the match and the series. “This has been brilliant. They have worked themselves up. The three quicks, Mitch Marsh they have been fantastic,” David Warner added as he waved to the crowd that came to watch him.
