‘Mubarak ho, all-rounder hua hai aapko’ – Fans react as Ameer Jamal picks six-for against Pakistan after scoring 82 against Australia
Pakistan all-rounder Ameer Jamal continues to do well in the ongoing third Test against Australia in Sydney. In the game, the visitors won the toss and elected to bat first. After losing four wickets for 47/4, the likes of Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha fought back with a half-century each. However, with skipper Pat Cummins taking a fifer, the Asian side was reduced to 227/9.
At this point, Jamal hit 82 off 97 balls and helped the team reach 313 all-out. The right-hander hit four sixes and nine fours during his innings. In reply, the home team side doing well with 289/5 on the board and looked like taking a huge lead. However, Jamal’s fifer ensured that his side took a 14-run lead. The World Test Championship 2023-25 defending champions were bowled out for 299.
I just back myself every time: Ameer Jamal
The Peshawar Zalmi player in the PSL made his debut in the first Test in Perth. In that game, he took his maiden six-for. Two games later, he shone with the bat and ball to hand his team a lead for the first time in the series. Meanwhile, after taking a fifer, he said that he backs himself despite being hit for runs on occasions.
“I’m over the moon, proud to be representing my country at this level. I think this a wonderful opportunity for me. It’s been so long, still remember those days when I used to watch Pakistan team…I just back myself every-time even if I am conceding runs, when you try to go for wickets, you leak boundaries as well, coaching staff has given me a lot of confidence.
(About his batting) we were seven down for 227, I think that partnership brought us back in the game. We are a couple of runs ahead of them and that matters.”

Three weeks ago in Perth, a slightly shy Aamer Jamal had been pushed by his teammates to get the ball from the umpire after his 6th wicket. Today, he just stormed towards umpire Illingworth after his 6th wicket & walked off holding it aloft. What a brilliant debut series #AusvPak pic.twitter.com/xbaNcY8Sl9

Aamer Jamal is the first bowler in Pakistan’s Test history to take 18 wickets in debut series (3 matches or less). #AusvPak

Aamer Jamal has been the stand out performer for Pakistan, brilliant with the bat and the ball. The 10 catches dropped in the series though have been the biggest let down.

From a newbie to Pak’s MVP in just two Tests, Aamer Jamal’s career trajectory has been quite spectacular

Pakistan may have lost the series (they should win this test though) but have two fine talents to show at the end of it. Salman Agha and Aamer Jamal.
