WATCH: David Warner gets into Steve Smith’s head with funny sledge
A funny sledging happened between David Warner and Steve Smith in the Sydney smash game in the 13th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) at SCG. Warner was the one to initiate and continue with it. The star batter recently retired from longer formats of the game like Tests and ODIs. the focus of the star batter now purely seems to be the shorter formats of the game.
As a result, Warner played for Sydney Thunder in the BBL match against the Sixers. Smith had entered the middle to open the batting for the home side. Warner decided to have a bit of funny banter with Smith. Warner took on his Australian teammate and sledged him in the middle. However, Smith did not seem to be interested in a reply, as he ignored the comments of Warner.

But it did seem like Warner’s sledging got into the head of the star batter. Smith was visibly looking disturbed by the sledging from Warner. In the mic, the commentators were telling Warner that he got into the head of Smith. Warner replied saying “Nothing’s distracting him. Nothing ever distracts him.” Warner talked to Smith about the guard and distracted him a bit.

The Southpaw said that Smith did not mark his foot rightly in the crease. Warner claimed that Smith might be fidgety about it. “But I say, actually, he’s got, he’s got a mark on his foot there. So, he might, he might be fidgety about that. Nah, that’s not center. A little bit to the right. Mate, if you open the batting mate, you’ve gotta mark it properly. One go only,” added the batter from Australia.
Smith then faced the first ball of the over from Daniel Sams. The left-arm pacer delivered a short ball to the unorthodox batter. Smith shuffled across and tried to pull the ball over the square leg. Unfortunately, it was caught by the fielder stationed near the boundary ropes. Smith was visibly disappointed with the dismissal and Warner was happy that his sweet little sledging fetched the team a big wicket.
