BBL: Sixers reach final, thanks to Kerr’s heroics

Hayden Kerr smashed a four on the last ball to seal the victory against the Adelaide Strikers.

Sydney Sixer has now qualified for the final match and they will face Perth Scorchers with the hope of winning their historic 3rd consecutive BBL trophy.

Sydney Sixer has managed to qualify for the final due to the brilliant all-around performance from Sean Abbott and Hayden Kerr’s magnificent knock.

Abbott took 3 wickets and also scored quickfire 41 runs off just 20 balls.

Adelaide Strikers scored 167-4 in their 20 overs.

Jonathan Wells and Matt Renshaw remained unbeaten on 62 and 36 runs respectively.

Sydney Sixers chased down the total on the last ball to win a thriller.

Hayden Kerr led his side over the victory line by smashing a boundary when 2 runs were required on the final delivery. 

 Cockbain and Wells shine again

The top-order of the Adelaide Strikers was blown away inside the powerplay but Cockbain played another important knock in this season to rescue his side when it was struggling on 21-3.

Cockbain scored 48 runs off 42 balls before getting bowled out by Sean Abbott. 

After Cockbain’s dismissal, Matt Renshaw joined Jonathan Wells to put up an important partnership of 63 runs that remained unbeaten right till the end.

Wells smashed 62 runs off 47 balls including 4 fours and a six while Matt Renshaw scored 36 runs off only 20 balls including 3 fours and 2 sixes. 

Sean Abbott’s all-round performance 

Sean Abbott shone with both bat and bowl in this match.

He picked up 3 out of the 4 wickets that fell in the Strikers innings.

He conceded only 27 runs to pick up those 3 important wickets.

Sean Abbott also played a crucial cameo with the bat to support Hayden Kerr in chasing the target.

Abbot scored 41 runs off 20 balls before getting dismissed on the first ball of the last over. e smashed 2 fours and 2 sixes in his knock.

Hayden Kerr’s unbelievable knock 

Hayden Kerr has played an outstanding knock today to get the depleted Sixers over the line.

Kerr is an emerging all-rounder and was batting mostly on number 8 position in this season but today he was promoted to the opening slot and he grabbed this opportunity with both hands by showcasing his immense talent with the bat today. 

Kerr is mostly known for his bowling and his best score was just 22 before this match but today he truly emerged as an all-rounder.

He scored an unbeaten knock of 98 runs to get his side over the victory line by smashing a four against Conway on the last ball to confirm Sixer’s face-off against Perth Scorchers in the final.
