WATCH: Cheteshwar Pujara sends timely reminder to selectors with latest video
Team India’s batting has been criticized during the latest tour of South Africa. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer haven’t been able to impress with the bat during the two games. There is a chorus of calls for the recall of veteran batters Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane.
Pujara has been getting ready for the Indian domestic tournament to start. The veteran batter will turn out for Saurashtra with the hope of getting back to run-scoring form. On Thursday, Cheteshwar Pujara posted a short video on the social media platform Twitter.

The seven-second video showed Pujara driving, pulling, sweeping as well as playing a lofted shot. Ever since his debut for India in 2010, Pujara has become an integral part of the Test side. Batting at number three, Pujara has helped India win many key games and series abroad. The final part of the video saw Pujara watch the ball like a hawk and let it go.
Will selectors recall the Indian veteran duo?
India’s recent tour of South Africa has shown the importance of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane. Young batters like Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer haven’t been able to do justice and stand up to the occasion.
With the England series set to begin in three weeks, the Indian team management will be worried. Just like Pujara even Ajinkya Rahane is busy getting ready for the domestic season as he will be seen leading Mumbai.
Late 2023 there was news that Pujara will head to Sussex for yet another season in 2024. There are no indications if the duo will be back in the Indian setup with Pujara last playing in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 Final.
Ajinkya Rahane played his last game for India during the tour of West Indies after making a comeback with an electric IPL season. Meanwhile, the Cape Town Test is set to finish in two days and there are massive rumblings about the pitch.
Dean Elgar who is set to play his last day in international cricket seemed perplexed with the playing surface. At the end of the day, the 36-year-old implored his team to play with the same aggressive intent as the visiting side.
