India won their first ever match against Australia in the history of Test cricket. For the first time since the two sides faced each other in the format since 1977, India beat Australia in a 4-day match. A collective team effort from the home side ensured that the win was possible. All the units like the batting, the fielding, and the bowling units stepped up for India.
With the ball, India restricted Australia for just 219 runs in their first innings. It was a brilliant effort from the home side with the ball, as the first day was the best to bat on. Indian batters dominated the game by scoring runs at a good rate. The likes of Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Sneh Rana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, and Deepti Sharma stepped up for the side.

In the second innings, India again restricted Australia to a low score. The likes of Sneh Rana, Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar, and Rajeshwari Gayakwad were brilliant with the ball. Harmanpreet Kaur stepped up with the ball in the second innings and helped the team to restrict Australia to a score of 261 runs. The visiting side improved with the bat but fell short. Tahlia McGrath batted well but did not get enough support from the other end.
The Indian bowlers got the ball to turn and swing which led to the downfall of Australia. Chasing the target, India was not under huge pressure. Only 75 runs were to be chased and the Indian batters came up with a good intent. For India, Smriti was brilliant again and took India home, despite wickets falling from the other end. As India won by 8 wickets, they became the first team from Asia to defeat Australia in a Test match.
